the north will always be my first love

Over the summer, I went on my traditional camping trip with some family friends. What once started as me, a family friend and her son soon turned into 15 people getting together every year, sitting around camp fires, playing childhood games and going for walks in the countryside.

This year, we went to the Peak District. Now, at first, I was very disgruntled about the massive 4+ hour drive it was going to take, but I can definitely say it was worth it when we got there.

The campsite was beautiful and, as you can see from some of the pictures, was almost like being in my own version of The Hobbit. As well as this, there was no signal (as much as I hate to admit it, I love being ‘off the grid’), beautiful scenery and great company.

I always enjoy these trips. I love being with my friends son and getting away from where I’m based. However, I enjoyed it even more this year for some reason. It was probably because I was feeling better about myself but, as I sat at the top of a mountain (yes, Charlotte, it was basically a mountain), I got a real sense of being content – something I hadn’t felt for a long time.
